What do you get when you combine a secret family recipe, imagination, and an engineer with a dream? Everyone in the Metro Atlanta area knows those were the key ingredients for what has become A Little Slice of Heaven Bakery. Now, with Melanie Wideman at the helm and the launch of her bakery’s online store, everyone in the United States can get a taste of it as well.
Melanie Wideman is the master baker behind all of the delicacies that come out of A Little Slice of Heaven Bakery where she makes custom cakes to celebrate any occasion, from high-end weddings and retirement (corporate) parties to graduation celebrations and children’s birthdays. Melanie can craft anything, from popular animated favorites, like the Minions, to a Tiffany’s box or a cigar box for adults. If you can imagine it, she can create it.
It all started for Melanie when at 16 she developed a love for baking. Although her life initially lead to an engineering career, her true passion wouldn’t stay hidden for long. With the support of her husband, she left that engineering career to turn her love for cake making into a full-time business.
Today, Melanie is a graduate of the Wilton School of Cake Decorating and Confectionary Art. She has completed courses lead by the famed sugar and cake artists Nicholas Lodge, Mike McCarey and Lauren Kitchens. Her own professional repertoire now includes an extensive variety of design, decorating, and modeling techniques. Melanie proves cake after cake that this new full-time job is the perfect fit.
While Melanie has designed a host of custom-cakes, her success with A Little Slice of Heaven Bakery all started with the lemon pound cake. Her secret recipe was created by Melanie’s mother and remains her best seller. Melanie’s lemon pound cake and seven other flavors, like red velvet and triple chocolate, are now all available for delivery to anywhere in the continental United States through A Little Slice of Heaven’s online store.
